Yawn

Right now I'm watching Pimp My Ride on Mtv and trying to stay awake. Very glad I can go to sleep here in a few minutes. I had to stay awake all night to adjust my sleep schedule to work an overnight shift tonight.
Yesterday was my day off, one of the few I've gotten or will be getting for a while. I used the opportunity to get the recall problem on my Jeep fixed.
Then in the evening I went to Wal-Mart to pickup some groceries. Walking into Wal-Mart I thought how strange it felt walking in regular shoes. I've been working so much all I've had on my feet lately are my work boots. I got bought some of the Dr. Scholls work insoles this week and  switched them out with the factory ones. It's made a difference, they are about twice as thick and ten times the quality as the insoles which came with the boots.
Before getting groceries I swung by sporting goods and as expected the ammunition case at Wal-Mart was picked clean.
I bought a can of tea called Peace Tea for $.88. I will admit I bought it pretty much for the can. I have tried cans of tea before and was not impressed by the taste. They had three or four flavors available and I picked the Tea / Lemonade flavor. All the cans have a colorful hippy theme to them, but the Tea / Lemonade flavor was for the movie Caddyshack.
Another weird find was on one of the isles they had boxes of octopus and squid. They were in small boxes just a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes and not refrigerated, so it must have been dried pieces of meat.
I bought a box of granola so I can add it to yogurt. When I bought it I was thinking it would be cheaper to buy the cups of yogurt and add my own granola to it. Instead of buying the cups of yogurt with the granola on top to mix in. But now I'm thinking this is a huge box and that's a lot of cups of yogurt! I'm not sure I can use it all before it ruins, it's probably enough granola for 100+ of those little Yoplait yogurt cups and I don't even eat that much yogurt!
I watched Cabin In The Woods tonight and it was pretty good. I'm not a big fan of scary movies, but this one was alright. It was pretty strange though! Not very much which I can say about the movie without it being a spoiler.
Then I watched the season finally of Two Broke Girls and before I go to sleep this morning I plan on watching yesterdays episode of Revolution. I usually DVR everything so I can skip the commercials. It saves a lot of time! Anymore with as much as I've been working, it has been about the only way I can find the time to squeeze in a little tv.

Speed Blogging!

Tonight we are speed blogging! What is speed blogging you may ask? It's exactly what it sounds like, writing a blog very quickly! Why are we doing so? Because I worked an 8.5 hour day, got home at 11:00 pm and have to be awake at 3:00 a.m. so I can go work a 12.5 hour shift in the morning. I'll be lucky if I get 3 hours of sleep, wishful thinking. I'm already feeling drained and my neck and shoulder muscles are extremely tense right now. So I'm multi-tasking and soaking in a hot bath and blogging.
Pretty bummed out I had to work tonight. If I had the night off I probably would have been photographing the band In This Moment and Pop Evil at their concert in Springfield. I've photographed at the last two Boob-A-Q concerts in 2010 and 2011. The only reason I didn't last year was because they didn't have a concert, but did a stand up comedy show instead.
It really sucks all I do is work and sleep. For crying out loud I've hardly picked up my camera since last year. Hopefully things will be changing soon!
Going along with last nights blog, I've been putting some things in motion lately. I've got an appointment to get some work done on my Jeep. The rear stabilizer was recalled and they are going to fix it for free since it was a recall. Just one of those things you would want done before a long trip. Closed an old account and set up a new one just for travel funding. As you may have noticed, started blogging a whole lot more. What did you think I was going to take off and leave you all behind? Nope, all part of the master plan.
Yesterday I was thinking about Alby and today I was thinking about the show Two Broke Girls. Their cupcake business fund at the end of every episode the total goes up for how ever much money they scrounge up. Today was payday and I saw the travel budget total go up like at the end of the show and the theme music played.
I don't know how far I'm going to get. I haven't even decided where I'm going to go! But maybe by some miracle the adventure will go viral, that will bring in some revenue and the adventure will never end. You'll probably notice ads have showed up on here, ads equal income. Cool thing is though a lot of times I get to pick out the ads shown so I try to pick something relevant to the topic and that's a cool product for you all to enjoy.
Just think though, if you are reading this now it's like you've got back stage passes. You are getting in on the ground floor when the adventure just starts to unfold. You'll be able to follow along as it happens.
I have to run, hopefully I will get a couple hours sleep. I guess that is better than none at all, goodnight and sweet dreams everyone!

Adventure Bound

It was a long night at work and I'm glad to be home! Trying to relax and unwind, my mind is a little foggy tonight. My mind wants to have a lot of thoughts and run free, but it was a busy day so I haven't had the time and I'm tired. So my mind hasn't been able to run free and just can't seem to focus long enough to have a deep thought.
Probably the biggest thing bouncing around inside my noggin all day has been Alby Mangels, a long time hero and major influence of mine. I would have to say he has been the biggest influence on my life as far as heroes go. I discovered his series Adventure Bound, I think it may have also been lesser known as Lonely  Heart. It was a show on the Travel Channel (back in the day when the Travel Channel was actually about Travel). Anyway, the show was just an edited version of his films, the most famous being The World Safari series. Most people have never even heard of these, I'm probably one of the very few people in the U.S. to have copies and I got those from Australia.
What has been on my mind about it tonight is one day Alby just quit his job. Him and his buddy jumped on their motorcycles, $200 in their pocket and a camera. This was how the first World Safari film started, how Alby spending the rest of his life traveling and adventuring started. Sure there were bumps along the way, just part of the adventure.
For the last week I've been at this close your eyes and leap point.....

Iron Man 3

Didn't get very much sleep last night, I was attacked my Mothra. I hear something fluttering ping against the metal shade of my lamp, turn on the light and nothing is there. Turn the light back off then I hear something behind the blinds, turn on the light nothing there. Turn the light back off, drifting off the sleep and ATTACK THE EAR! So I shoot out of bed, flip the light on and this moth is attacking me like an angry bee. Landing on my back, dive bombing me from every direction with evil in it's little heart. Then it just disappeared, I looked all over and it had just vanished. Finally went back to sleep and it never reappeared, it may be laying in wait for me tonight when I go to bed.
I went to see Iron Man 3 and it was a good movie, but not as good as the first two. I know it made a ton of money at the theater, but I think that was a result of anticipation after The Avengers and the first two Iron Man movies. The first two movies were directed by Happy (Iron Man's body guard in the movies), but this one has a new director. Happy is still in the movies playing the body guard role and as an executive producer, just not directing this one.
This new director has a thing where all his movies have a Christmas theme or take place at Christmas. Get over it dude! It's the first big release of SUMMER, the Christmas thing would go over better if it was released in the fall. Most of the Christmas stuff felt out of place and felt like it was forced into the movie which didn't really have anything to do with Christmas. The exploding Christmas ornaments were just cheesy.
They have completely changed Tony Stark and the Iron Man suits. Tony Stark has lost his coolness. He had it in The Avengers during the whole alien invasion, but now suddenly you say alien and he has a panic attack? Certainly not the Tony Stark we knew in the other movies. Once again this was not a spoiler, because they don't really have any effect on the movie, they were just kind of thrown in there. Which is how most of the movie felt, a lot of stuff was just thrown in and wasn't really explained well enough or things just didn't fit together well enough for a smooth movie like we saw with the others. There were lots of big holes in the story too, like the whole thing with the Vice President.
The Iron Man suits went the same way as Tony Stark.... falling apart. These aren't the Iron Man suits we saw in the other movies. These are pieces of junk which 95% of their time malfunction, almost every scene the suit malfunctions in some way. Not to mention they are no longer the strong suits we saw get shot out of the air by a tank, crash land, blasted with machine guns, then shot up by the machine guns of an F-22 jet, after being shot by a missile and Iron Man walks away with hardly a scratch. These new suits get destroyed if a bad guy sneezes on them. I'm pretty sure Tony could have got some better Iron Man suits in the toy section at Wal-Mart.
I can't say to much here without spoiling the movie, but I wasn't impressed by the bad guys and I didn't like how they ended it.
Overall it was a good movie, but they could and should have done better. My suggestion for Iron Man 4, get a different director!
While I waited to watch Iron Man they showed the trailer for the new Thor movie. It didn't grab me, it just seemed like a jumbled mess with Thor in the middle.
They also showed the trailer for the new Wolverine movie, which looked pretty good. Not sure about the story though, could have done a little more to grab my attention as being a movie I have to see! Marvel needs to get some new people to promote their stuff and stop trying to change what's working, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Crazy May Weather!

Sitting here watching tv and listening to the air conditioner running. The weather has been crazy this month, just four days ago it was snowing and now it's in the upper 70s.
I slept in a lot later than I wanted to this morning and didn't get out of bed until noon. I was so tired I think I slept 12 hours. After I woke up I took my uniforms and stuff and turned them in at the old job. I had hoped to be able to stay on to help out every now and then, but I just haven't had the time off. If I do have some days off I want to do things, not work. I haven't taken pictures in a month, photography is my life.
It made me a little sad to turn in my stuff at the old job. But at the same time I need to move forward, even if the path isn't easy to find right now.
I watched the first episode of this seasons Sons of Guns on the DVR tonight. Build cool guns and shoot them, skip the soap opera. This whole thing with Vince opening a shop in town, then the leave the episode with are Stephanie and Kris going to open a new shop on the next episode? Crappy reality tv, yuk! The whole thing with them going to Jordan was kind of pointless since they couldn't show anything, just a waste of time. I'm not sure what night the new episodes come on, probably already missed the second episode of the season. With all the drama though, I'm not to worried about it.

Revenge of The Fifth!

May 5, 2013, stole the title from an image I saw on Facebook about May The 4th Be With You.
Today was a very long day at work! After getting off work Saturday morning to go eat at Ziggie's Café with the family was a mistake, I didn't have the energy. I ended up falling asleep two or three times on the way home. An amazing feet for me because I'm not one of those people who can sleep in public. I've never been that kid who could lay his head down on the desk and go to sleep in class or on a bus with other people around. Plus the side of my head was right up against the piece of plastic where the seat belt connects to the door frame, so that was jabbing me in the side of the head the hole time.
I had hoped to stay awake until at least 6:00 pm, to get my sleep schedule back on track. But my body said: "That ain't gonna happen!". Apart from getting so little time off work, the drive back and fourth and going back and forth from evenings to days to overnights just has me worn out! Amazingly I have the next two days off, but they are going to be busy I have so much stuff to catch up on I just haven't had the time to do.
Came home to a really nice dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread and for desert butter pecan ice cream. I have to give kudos to Blue Bunny, they put a lot of pecans in their ice cream! I hate buying an ice cream flavor like strawberry or cherry and out of a bowel full you find maybe one or two pieces of fruit. CHEAPSKATES!
Pet Peeve: People who wear their hoodies up indoors! Are you planning to rob the place? Do you not want the cameras to see your face because you are a shop lifting? Back in the day it used to be bad manners to wear a hat indoors, at least then you could still see your face. I'm going to put this right up there with the saggy pants people, losers!

May The 4th Be With You!

It's been to long since my last post! I've been meaning to get on here and update this more frequently. About a month ago I started a new job which turned out to be less than I had hoped for. Since then I have just been working and sleeping, it's been hard to find time to do much of anything.
I used to blog all the time! In fact I'm one of the original internet bloggers, starting out long before it was even called "blogging" or their were sights like this to host them. I kept a journal on my web-page using HTML code. I know I've probably said this a half dozen times over the last few years, but I'm going to make this a regular thing.
About six years ago I started a career in law enforcement, which is why I stopped blogging. I've moved on from it now and the last month the filter of self censorship has come off some. But it's time to just let go, say what I want and do what I want to do. Ah, freedom!
I'm just going to talk about whatever....  Movies and television shows I'm watching, what I'm doing on my adventures, share some of my photography, and just whatever is on my mind at the moment. Except for politics, I keep a separate blog for politics.
At the moment what is on my mind is how tired I am! Today is supposed to be my "day off". But I didn't get home from work until 7:00 a.m. this morning. But technically since I started my shift yesterday, on the calendar it looks like I have a day off. Not to mention I have to go to bed early because tomorrow I have a morning shift, so I will need to wake up at 3:00 a.m..
Right now I'm staying awake to get my sleep schedule somewhat on track, at least the best I can. Plus my step-dad came home last night and the family was wanting me to go eat with them in Springfield today. My step-dad, Chuck, drive a big rig. He works two weeks on the road and then comes home for two weeks.
I'm not sure how I would stay awake for a trip to Springfield, but a burger and French fries at Ziggie's Café sounds really good right now!!!!
This week I am really hoping to go see Iron Man 3. I saw tonight on a Yahoo news article after the credits there is a sneak peak of another movie or something. I stopped reading the article so it wouldn't be a spoiler, but now I know to sit through the credits instead of rushing out of the theater when it's over.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco) from the Big Bang Theory is doing commercials for Toyota's Rav 4. She's a genie, random thought if Kaley granted me three wishes one of them would probably involve Kaley! lol
Has anyone else noticed a change to the flavor of Dr. Pepper? Lately it has started tasting different to me and I don't really like it. For one thing it tastes a lot sweeter, a little too sweet. I have always heard prune juice was a major one of the 23 flavors that make up Dr. Pepper. I think the prune flavor has gotten a lot stronger in it. Could be I'm just getting burned out, maybe I will switch to Coca-Cola for a while.
King of Queens is now on TBS, love this show. It's the one where he accidently staples his man stuff to his shorts, hilarious!

If you would like to see when I post new blog updates you should like my Facebook page! You should also like my Facebook page because I post some really funny stuff there! I usually post a lot of funny stuff on my personal page, but I'm transitioning all of it to my Adventurer Dustin Holmes page. Here is the link, so click it, like it!
