Doomsday Preppers and Prepping

I'm sitting here watching Doomsday Preppers on National Geographic. So this is going to be the topic for tonights blog. I was prepping before prepping was cool! It's became the latest craze lately with the show The Walking Dead and some believing 2012 is the end of the world.
Despite it being a craze right now I think there are a lot of people who still have a taboo about it and see preppers as being paranoid or crazy. Sometimes watching the show Doomsday Preppers, I can understand why as some of those people take it to the extremes.
But prepping is just common sense and something everyone should do. I don't believe the world is about to come to an end, or we will wake up in a world sent back to the stone age like in Revolution where we will have to live out the rest of our lives. And even though I joke about zombies or prepping for the zombie apocalypse, zombies are just a metaphor to describe the bad guys.
Everyone should be prepared for an event which may last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. This event could be anything from a chemical spill which contaminates the local water supply to a natural disaster like an earthquake or severe winter weather.
Zombies are the guys who didn't prep, who will take your supplies. Zombies are the looters who will take advantage of the situation to take what you have. Even in good times you may run into zombies!! They mug you on the street, they may go on a shooting rampage, they may break into your home at 3:00 a.m.. Or they may be high on drugs and attack you. I believe you have a responsibility to protect yourself, your family and those who cannot protect themselves.
