Happy Thanksgiving!
This morning I went to Springfield with my mom and stepfather Chuck and we ate at Golden Corral. I really didn't want to go, but I did it for them. I would have been content to remain curled up in my nice warm bed and watch the parades on tv.
On our way to Springfield as soon as we got on the interstate there was a Pontiac in front of us swerving all over the road. He would go almost halfway in the passing lane and other cars were scared to pass him. I called it into the Highway Patrol and within in a mile I saw one sitting along the road and they pulled him over! This is one of those days when you don't like giving out speeding tickets, but I would have no problem hauling a drunk driver off to jail! I saw two little adorable kids in the backseat of a car that passed him, they were only about 6 years old. He could have drifted over into the side of their vehicle as they went around him. That could have been a family who never showed up for their Thanksgiving dinner. So I was very thankful Highway Patrol was close by to get him quickly pulled over.
Golden Corral was swamped with people! When we got there the line was outside and halfway down the building. About fifteen minutes later it was even longer and went to the end of the building and maybe wrapped around. It took about 40 minutes to make it from where we started to the registers to pay and be seated.
While we were waiting in line a mother and her two boys (I would guess about 8 and 10 years old) came out. It sounded like someone spilled their drink on the ground, but it was the oldest of the two boys throwing up. He hurled a huge puddle right inside the doors where people exit and then again right outside the doors. The mom just grabbed the boys by the arms and took off running to their car. Meanwhile crowds of people keep coming out of the restaurant and have to carefully avoid it. Not something you want to see right after eating a huge Thanksgiving meal and it nearly caused a chain reaction.
Inside it was packed of course, most of the stuff on the buffet wasn't to hard to get to. But if you wanted the Thanksgiving foods like turkey, ham and the steak you would have to wait in line about 5-10 minutes. The food was really good and the employees were doing an excellent job keeping the chaos to a minimum.
After we ate we went to K-mart since it was pretty much the only thing open. My mom went nuts shopping in there and we ended up being in the store for about two and half hours. All I bought was a 2-liter of soda on sale for $.88 and two things of shampoo because it was on sale for $.10 cents cheaper than I can get it at Wal-mart.
After we got back from Springfield I managed to catch Hello Kitty again tonight. I got her to let me pet her head a few strokes and grabbed her by the back of the neck to hold her there long enough for me to pick her up and carry her inside.... a feat I accomplished without being shredded by claws thankfully. Once inside she still acted scared, but not as bad. I carried her into the living room once and she really freaked out so I took her back to by the patio door. I held her on my lap some and petted her and she purred and she laid on the mat by the door and I petted her there for a long time. She just purred and purred and really relaxed. She closed her eyes and one point and I thought she might even fall asleep. When I opened the door for her to go back outside she just walked out onto the first step, stuck her head back inside and sniffed and then went down onto the back porch.
Yellow really wants to come inside, but I won't let him in. I've determined while he is a really good cat he is kind of dirty. He would make a great full time indoor cat and he is a great full time outdoor cat, but he just doesn't stay clean enough to go back and forth. The way he plays with the string like a kitten and the other day he started rolling around on the back porch I feel like he is trying to be adorable and really wants to be an indoor cat. But the position of indoor cat is already occupied by Isis.
I am really tired! I have had a really hard time falling asleep the last two nights and ended up waking up earlier than I wanted too. I am hoping to catch up on sleep tonight and then tomorrow just relax! I recorded the Thanksgiving Day parades I missed today my plan is to watch them tomorrow.
