Hunger Games, The Dictator and Expendables 2

Last week I watched The Hunger games which was excellent! When it hit the theaters I thought it was going to be a chick flick, because only girls were talking about it on Facebook. It is not a chick flick though, it has a fair amount of action. The big downside to this movie was the ending, it leaves you wanting more and it's a long time until 2 and 3 come out. But when they do, I will probably go to the theater to see them instead of waiting for them to come out on dvd.
I also watched The Dictator, which had some really funny parts. It's a typical Sacha Baron Cohen movie on the level of Borat. As expected most of the movie is for shock value, controversal humor and dumb humor. I liked him as Ali G and Borat was decent, I couldn't make it through Bruno though. If there were a lot of great movies out right now I would say skip it, but in the era of low budget how fast can we crank out the dvds no one has ever heard of, it's probably just a notch above the crap no one has ever heard of Redbox seems to be full of these days.
Today I went to the movies in Springfield to watch The Expendables 2. (Gotta love the $5 matinee Tuesday, and the $5.00 small soda / small popcorn combo at Showplex Cinemas. It's the only time I can afford to get a drink and soda at the movies!) It is what it is, an action movie. A bunch of action stars shooting and blowing stuff up, why? Because they can! Don't expect some great story, expect explosions and cheesy lines. It's a pinata filled with bullets and bombs for the hardcore fans of action movies and that is all!
After the movie my testosterone levels were way up and I couldn't resist taking a trip to the shooting range for my own version of The Expendables 3. So I headed to The Sound of Freedom indoor gun range in Ozark Missouri to throw a little lead down range.  I was using some new ammunition I found, .22 Federal ammo in a blue box. When I say found, I literally mean that. I found them last week in a bag from Academy Sports and I certainly can't remember buying them, but apparently I did. I usually shoot Federal bulk ammo, it's the cheapest and I don't have problems with it. This box was about the same size, but with little boxes of 50 rounds each inside. I usually get the maroon colored box with the plated hollow points. This stuff was just round nose, lead. They sucked! I had so many misfeeds and stove pipes in my Browning Buck Mark, it just took a lot of the fun out of it.  I was just shooting at the 20 feet line, which is where most people shoot and I had a fair grouping for fighting so much with the ammunition. I had my GoPro Camera on, so I could get some video of me shooting. I didn't even realize another shooter, impressed with my shooting, had stopped to watch me and when I moved out to the 70 feet line (the max distance at the range) really impressed him. I'm just going to leave you all hanging on how I did at that range, you'll just have to wait for the video on youtube.
After going to the range I filled up with gas at Sam's Club and went to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. Most of the museum is in limbo right now, being stored in a cave somewhere. After the Joplin Tornado the National Park Service got paranoid about the building the artifacts were on display in and moved them until a more secure building can be built. From what I understand they are going to build onto the visitor center, which will actually be better. I always thought it was a bit silly to have the museum outside of the park, this will be much more convenient. The visitor center does have a small exhibit worth taking a peek at if you visit the park.
I didn't do a whole lot at the park, just shot a video of driving through the park. I didn't feel like getting out and hiking very much today. I bought a season pass though since I plan on shooting more video there and it will be a nice place to go and ride my bike.
I've added a lot of new photos on Flickr and a few small videos to Youtube this week, if you get bored and want to check them out. Now that you are pretty much caught up on the recent happenings in my life I'm going to call it a night and get to bed.
