Color, Waterfalls, Superman
Really really tired right now! Got up early this morning and went to the Color Me Rad 5K run in Springfield to take pictures. People sign up to run a course and at different checkpoints along the way volunteers throw colored powder (corn starch) on them. It was a lot of fun and I got a lot of great pictures which I am currently uploading now.
There are so many pictures I'm not going to edit them all. When I edit them it compresses the file size a lot smaller. Without editing it takes a whole lot longer to upload! 500 is the maximum you can upload at a time. I was hoping the first batch would get done so I can start on the second batch to upload while I sleep. When I'm uploading it really slows down my internet connection, so better for it to be slow while I'm sleeping than awake and trying to watch a video on Youtube or something.
After Color Me Rad I thought about going to eat at McSalty's Pizza since I have a coupon. But saw Pizza Hut had a $5 lunch buffet special going on so I thought I would save my coupon for later. The guy holding the sign for the $5 buffet out by the road had headphones in and he was really jamming out dancing all over the place by the road. It almost looked like he was in an imaginary mosh pit. lol
As soon as I pulled into the parking lot Jonathan and Christina asked if I wanted to go to Joplin with them and I had nothing else going on. We went to a lot of different places!
Found the Bonnie & Clyde apartment in Joplin which was really disappointing. It is a privately owned apartment above a garage and there was no where to park. There is nothing marking it and if you didn't know it was there it would just be another random residence.
Went to several places along Route 66 such as The Superman Ice Cream Parlor / Museum where I had Superman ice cream. It is a very small building, but filled with all kinds of Superman collectibles.
Watched the sunset at Grand Falls in Joplin. The water level was way down and looked disgusting and had a bit of a bad smell to it, all of which I'm sure was related to the water level being so low. Still got a lot of good pictures, there just wasn't anyone swimming in it today like there normally is. I saw a monster sized fish pop up in the middle of the river just below the waterfall. Couldn't tell you what kind, but it looked like it had a 4-5" fin on it's back. There was a blue heron by the waterfall, but it was to far away to get any really good pictures of it.
Also we went to Red Oak II, a Car Show / Carnival / Spring Festival on Route 66 and a few other places.
When we were in Joplin there were so many girls out in their beautiful prom dresses. At Road Oak II there was a couple doing pictures there. It really made me want to take pictures! I used to hate taking pictures of people and made every effort to avoid having people in my pictures. But I started out doing nature and landscape photography so it kind of goes along with the territory. I think now it's just that I've expanded and diversified, I love taking pictures of people now.... really I just love taking pictures of anything.
I don't think I'm going to make it until the first batch of photos finished uploading. It's really early in the morning, my eyes are hardly staying open, in fact right now I'm typing this with my eyes closed I'm so tired! A quick shower to rinse the powder from the color run off me and out of my hair and then I'm going to pass out and sleep in! I have a lot of laundry to do tomorrow, but it can wait until I roll out of bed.
