Busy Saturday
Saturday was a busy day! I went to three festivals and the zoo. My start on the day was delayed by about an hour because of rain. When the rain finally let up I filled up the gas tank on the Jeep and bought a Powerball ticket. Just for that microscopic sliver of hope I would win and could spin the rest of my life traveling the world taking pictures. I wouldn't waste the money on a Ferrari or fancy beach house in Malibu. All I need is a decent vehicle, a decent camera, and a pocket full of plane tickets.
After filling up the gas tank I went to the annual Case Celebration at the Shepherd Hills Factory Outlet here in Lebanon. I wasn't there very long at all, just long enough to do a quick walk-through and take a few pictures.
I then headed on to Springfield and spent most of the day at the Bass Pro Outdoor Fitness Festival at Lake Springfield. I was stuck hanging out in the boat house there for about the first thirty minutes waiting for the rain to stop again. Thankfully that was the end of the rain for the day and the weather was really nice from then on. The outdoor festival was a lot bigger this year, almost twice the size it was the last time I was there. I got a lot of great photos of the mountain men rendezvous and they had a Native American Powwow.
My butt got soapy at the outdoor days. One of the vendors was giving out free samples of lye soap and the only place I had to carry it was in my back pocket. When I set down on the grass for the powwow the ground was still damp. Which resulted in my butt being probably the cleanest it has ever been!
After the outdoor festival I went to the Greek festival. I was hoping to get in and out really quick, but I had to wait a while for the dancers to start. There really isn't anything to take pictures of there except for the dancers.
I then went to Dickerson Park Zoo for the Picnic In The Park. $5. to get in and that included a drink, hotdog, bag of chips and a cookie. They surprisingly weren't that busy! I didn't stay very long I was exhausted and losing daylight to take pictures in. It was worth it though because I got some shots of the hippo painting and feeding the lions meat stuffed into cardboard tubes they had to work to get out.
I think I got a little dehydrated yesterday. I've not felt good all week, not terrible, just not good. Haven't had much of an appetite and just feeling blah. From Facebook it seems there are several bugs going around. I think I picked mine up at the Casino, haven't felt good since then.
