Preparations
Sitting here watching You Don't Mess With The Zohan although I should probably be in bed right now. I'm supposed to get up early and go eat at Cracker Barrel in Springfield with the family. This is such a funny movie though and I haven't watched it in a while.
This week I've been getting supplies and gear ready to travel. I've got a new pair of hiking boots, a new phone, a ear piece for the phone, atlas, electric razor, laundry bag, gloves and things like that. Still have a few things to buy that can be put off for a while. Microsoft office and a new GPS is next on the list to buy and then probably a camera.
I will be leaving on Monday and the first adventure will be to Oklahoma.
I've been thinking a lot about how I want to take the media aspect of all this. I will be blogging a lot more. In my down time I want to write, maybe I'll get some stuff published or just post it online. Need to work on my website and get it back up and running. I'd like to make some Youtube videos later on down the line.
Of course photography will be a part of it. I figure I'll take pictures with my camera and cell phone. Not as many pictures as I usually take though, just a few here and there. I'm not really happy with my camera right now, the picture quality is not as good as it used to be. It's several years old and has taken a lot of pictures. For a camera going on my adventures are a lot more stressful than sitting in a nice climate controlled studio on a tripod all the time, it gets jarred, bumped and exposed to hot cold and occasionally a little rain. A good camera is a big purchase though so it will be a while until I can afford one.
I probably won't have a lot of opportunities to take very many pictures for a while though. I want to just drive, enjoy the scenery, see the cities and states. Maybe next year I'll do some in depth stuff spend a week at a time in a place and do more touristy things and really document it.
