A Dead Battery and Miley Cyrus On A Wrecking Ball
I tried a new restaurant this week, Old Chicago in Springfield. I was fully expecting to order off the menu, having already browsed it online, and was surprised to find out they have a daily pizza buffet. When you get the buffet you have a choice of either a salad or soup for an appetizer which the server brings to you from the kitchen. Then towards the end of your meal your server brings you a hot chocolate chip cookie right out of the oven.
The pizza at Old Chicago is good, not the best, not the worst, just good. I ate their twice this week and the first time the pizza was really greasy, the second time not at all. They have two types of crust thin and Chicago deep dish. I didn't think the deep dish was any deeper than the deep dish you get at Pizza Hut, Domino's or Mazzio's. The deep dish crust is a little doughier and the thin is crispy. The buffet has about 4-5 pizzas and bread sticks. Marinara sauce is on the buffet in bowels so you just help yourself. The buffet has a lot of specialty pizzas on it, but they had no problem putting out a pepperoni for me. They will make anything if you ask. The buffet only costs $8 which isn't bad at all compared to other places. The restaurant was clean and it has a nice atmosphere.
I was about to go to bed last night and I had left the tv on in my room. There was a movie on called A Perfect Getaway starring Milla Jovovich and Steve Zahn playing on TBS. Milla Jovovich won my heart in The 5th Element and she is pretty badass in the Resident Evil movies. I've been a fan of Steve Zahn's since he did Sahara and Bandidas.
A Perfect Getaway ended up being one of the best movies I've watched in a while. I don't know how I hadn't heard of it before. A couple is on their honeymoon in Hawaii and from the news learn some murders have happened in Hawaii and there are killers on the loose. So they meet other couples who could be the killers? I don't really like murder / horror movies, but this was an exception. They did a really good job of not making it predictable and they did a good job with the ending as well.
The movie caused me to stay up late last night and sleeping in this morning so I ended up not going to Springfield. I'd also planned to go yesterday, but pretty much the same thing happened. I wasn't really going for any particular reason, just something to do, mess around and take some pictures. Actually it all kind of worked out because it's ended up raining the last couple days. It poured today and my mom told me the weatherman said it wasn't going to..... which is why I don't watch the weather.
This evening I had to go mail a letter and thought I would run by Wendy's to get my mom a frosty. It's been a couple days since I went anywhere in the Jeep and when I jumped in the battery was dead. I got out the jump box and fiddled around with it for a bit, it was no help. So the verdict was a dead battery and the sun was going down fast.
My family didn't seem to have a lot of faith in my abilities to change a battery. It's not complicated, but also I'm someone who has never worked on cars. I just tackled it with logic. I guesstimated the size of socket wrench I would need for the bolts, ran into the house to get one twice and guessed right on the first try. I needed two, the first one was like a screw driver which was perfect for the bolt behind the battery locking it in place, but wouldn't work on the terminals so I had to get a regular ratchet for those.
Got everything unhooked and took the old battery and bought a new one. I thought batteries were only $60-80, WRONG! It was a little over $130! I bought the best battery they sold, basically because it had a lot more cold cranking amps than the cheapest one they sold and only about a $15 price difference.
I got the new battery home and by now it was dark and I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. I had been even before the sun went down though. I installed the battery in the dark, mostly because I didn't feel like walking inside to get a flash light and figured that would probably just attract more mosquitoes. I could see enough to get the cables on, but had to do the bolt behind the battery which holds in place completely by touch.
Getting a new battery hurt bad! I'm on a shoe string budget and I had planned on going to St. Louis this weekend for a hot air balloon race. So the new battery pretty much shot the budget for that and then some. I am still debating it a little anyway.
I had just finished uploading some pictures, was about to log off and get some lunch when I decided to check my stats on Flickr. I hadn't bothered to look at them in a few days and was caught totally by surprise when I did! A couple weeks ago I set a record of 25,000 views in a single day and thought that was incredible, especially since it blew away my old record of about 18,000. So I was chocked to see yesterday I was in the upper 30,000 range and today I had nearly 41,000. So that was really amazing and very unexpected!
I finally broke down and watched the Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball music video tonight. I of course opted for the explicit version, being an adult and all. About the only thing the video leaves to the imagination is the color of her areolas. For most of the video you pretty much see everything, but at least for a split second there is a unobstructed full view. In the video she is either wearing white pasties or they erased her nipples in editing. This just seems incredibly dumb to me, it's like you've seen everything else, but why is it the color of her areolas is across the line. Maybe she has freaky nipples, or she doesn't have nipples? Boobs without nipples are pointless! ;) haha
But seriously, don't show the whole boob and then erase the nipples. It's creepy, it's like when people people shave their eyebrows. It's like looking at a face without eyebrows!
Other than the controversy there really isn't much to talk about. The video is pretty plain, a wrecking ball, some walls behind Miley getting knocked down and a mostly naked Miley Cyrus. The song isn't that great at all and Miley isn't that pretty. I don't find her to be all that attractive. Controversy is about the only thing the girl has going for her, morally right or wrong it's working for her. She broke the record number of views on You Tube and it is keeping her name in the media.
I wonder how my views on Flickr I could get if I got naked and rode on a wrecking ball...... yeah probably none! lol
