Northern Cardinal

Also known as a redbird or Common Cardinal is mid-sized songbird bird. It lives in southern Canada, the eastern part of the United States from Maine to Texas and in Mexico.
This photo is of a male Cardinal. Male Cardinals have a black mask on their face while the females have a gray mask. Females also lack the vivid red color found in males. They are also slightly larger than the females.
Male Cardinals are territorial and mark their territory with their song. During courtship the male Cardinal will feet seed to the female beak-to-beak.
