My Birthday

As I begin writing this it is a little after midnight, so technically yesterday was my Birthday. Since I've not went to bed yet, it's still today to me.
This morning I went with my family to Springfield to celebrate my Birthday. We ate where we usually do when we are in Springfield at the Ziggie's Cafe on the corner of Glenstone and Sunshine. We had our usual appetizer of deep fried mushrooms and I had my usual plain hamburger with a side of fries and as usual it was delicious!
Ran to pet smart to pick up some Pupperoni treats for the dog. They sell some there made from sweet potatoes while most places just sell the regular kind. But they were out so we didn't get anything and went on to Sam's Club to fill up the gas tank. Gas was $.11 cheaper at the Sam's off of Campbell than anywhere else we saw in Springfield. Then we picked up a few groceries at Sam's Club.
On the way home we stopped at Wing Stop to pickup some wings to take home later for supper. I had never tried them before, but heard their ads on the radio and checked out the menu on their website. Their boneless wings run about $.70 a wing compared to Buffalo Wild Wings $.90 a wing except on the boneless Thursdays when they are $.60.
Buffalo Wild Wings has Wing Stop beat on wings! Buffalo Wild Wings has more flavors and taste better. At Wing Stop I tried the Louisiana Rub and Cajun, about the only two flavors Buffalo Wild Wings doesn't have that they do. I didn't really care for the Cajun, the Louisiana was good. I noticed the Louisiana boneless wings were one of those foods that actually taste better after you toss them in the fridge and microwave them later. (the Calzone at Mazzio's is the same way, 5 times better microwaved the next day for some reason). I also ordered a dozen of their yeast rolls to try as they were not that expensive, just about $3.50 I think. They were some of the best rolls I had ever had! Next time I'm in Springfield I am going to go back just to get a box of rolls to take home. They taste like Golden Corrals rolls were a few years ago before they changed the recipe to ones they have now which just aren't as good.
After that we stopped at Popeye's Chicken to get my mom something to take home. She's not a wing person like Chuck and I. And we wanted to get a couple pies from there to take home for later as well. They were still out of the blackberry and cream cheese my mom loves and they were also out of the apple pies! They had completely sold out of all their pies! They offered us a Mississippi Mud Cake, but it was $2 and not much bigger than a brownie. The pies are only $1 and about the same size! I would have tried it for a dollar, but I'm not a big chocolate person and I figured it would probably be too rich for my tastes. I really need to quit putting on here how good the food is, I loved those pies and you all went and bought them all up! lol
My mom wanted to do more for my birthday, but I didn't want to do much. It's Memorial Day weekend still and everything is swamped with people. I usually like to just stay home and chill on the holidays and avoid the crowds, I find it more enjoyable to go out when it's a lot less busy.
When I got home I watched Cat Woman on Amazon Prime on my Xbox. I hadn't watched it in a really long time. I would only give it about 3 out of 5 stars, I remember now why it has been the butt of jokes on The Big Bang Theory.
A couple days ago I got a mattress and box springs for my bed and today I picked up a new pillow at Sam's Club. I feel like I'm sleeping on a hotel bed! I've needed a new mattress for about two years now and the springs were getting really broke down. My bed sees a lot of action and by a lot of action I mean my fat butt sitting on it playing Call of Duty. lol
It had a hard life doing double duty as both my bed and my couch. It was just a cheap one I had bought on Overstock.com years ago! This one is about twice as thick and much more comfortable than the other one was when it was new. I had flipped and turned that thing so many times trying to get more life out of it, the springs made pressure points in the top and some spots had more support than others. Needless to say I really love this new mattress! No complaints about my old pillow, it is still pretty good, but I think I'm going to get along with this one better. My step dad was in need of a new pillow as well and Sam's sells them in packs of two, so we split it and each got one.
Today driving down to Springfield I thought of how much I miss seeing the gigantic American Flag they had flying just West of  highway 65 on I-44 at the Reckitt Benckiser factory.  They make French's Mustard among other things and when you drive by on the interstate you can often smell something unusual depending on what they are making that day. For years they had an American Flag flying out front that you could probably hide a small house under. But I heard they took it down because it was to expensive to maintain and now they have just a average sized American flag like most businesses have.
A couple blocks West of there is a Fireworks Supermarket that has a pretty large one flying though. Not as big as the old one used to be, but it's big. I thought today that sure is nice to see! We really do have a beautiful flag, I think the most beautiful of all the countries in the world.
