The Holidays

This is my favorite time of year, I love fall and the holidays. I love the cool weather and the fall colors. I love all the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations! It stinks people don't decorate like they used to, anymore it's hard to find a house decorated. My parents aren't into decorating much and I'm not fortunate enough to have a wife and kids to celebrate the holidays with. If I did I would go all out and decorate!
I don't like the people who go on and on about how commercialized it is. This just means you're a Grinch and looking to place blame elsewhere, nobody is forcing you to buy the stuff. Or about how it's all about Jesus, well good for you, stop forcing your beliefs on everyone else and celebrate your own way.
I can understand not putting up Christmas lights, electric bills are so high! I saw one place had solar Christmas lights. I didn't catch the price on them, but it would be great if they were affordable enough Christmas lights would come back in mass again. I remember being a kid and we would drive around just looking at the Christmas Lights. Now if you want to see Christmas lights you almost have to go to one of those pay drive-thru light places.
I really miss having a fireplace, they are such a huge part of the season. We haven't had one in years, we've got gas and electric heat.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, even though I wish it would go back a little more to what it used to be. All these little kids dressing up as cartoon characters, girls dressing up like hookers, funny adult costumes. Halloween is supposed to be scary!!!!! When I was a kid I was a werewolf, or a vampire or a zombie. Bring back the scary! I would love to have a really cool costume, dress up, decorate the house and trick or treat candy. Money is really tight this year so I'll have to sit this one out. Usually I get stuck working on Halloweens. One year I got off work early enough I had time to run home and throw together a crappy costume and run to Wal-mart to buy a ton of candy. It was a crappy costume from stuff just laying around the house, but I loved to be able to trick or treat.
