Fighting Zombies

I literally fought a zombie this week! As if I couldn't be any more awesome, add fighting a zombie onto the list of things I've done. I can tell you first hand, zombies are real! This was the 28 Days Later type, not the rotting corpse Walking Dead type.
Remember the story of the guy in Florida high on drugs going zombie and eating the face off another man? These new synthetic drugs will do that, straight out of the movies zombie! I didn't get bit, but it wasn't for lack of trying! Growling and literally trying to eat us..... the behavior was exactly like you see in the zombie movies.
It wasn't an act, he was operating only on the most primitive and primal level. Never spoke, never comprehended words said to him. Just growled and made animalistic noises. He was trying to bite the arm of one of the other guys there but couldn't reach. He never once glanced at me to see a reaction, he was 100% focused on one thing, I'm going to eat that arm.
This is the terrifying world we live in! Anyone could encounter an individual like this on the streets. I don't think pepper spray or a tazer would be effective at such a primal level, pain compliance wouldn't be comprehended or possibly even felt. I read in the newspaper about a similar incident here in Lebanon the following day.
I put my two week notice in at work this week. Not sure what I'm going to do next, but I figured this was better to leave on somewhat good terms than get fed up and walk out. There is a very long list of reasons, but I got to looking at my schedule for July and it sucked. I had some stability this month to my schedule, pretty much working overnights, mostly in the same area. But July I was all over the place working all kinds of shifts, in a different area almost daily. But the straw that broke the camels back was they had me working some evening shifts going to a morning shift the following day. With my drive home, I would best case scenario get five hours of sleep, but realistically probably 3-4. It's just not worth risking falling asleep on the interstate and causing harm to myself or someone else. Especially when there are a lot of other reasons why I think it's time to move on.
Yesterday I went hiking at Ha Ha Tonka, I missed that place! I got there really early just before the park opened so my first stop was the River Cave. You can access that area before the gates open. I ended up staying for about 4-5 hours and hiking several areas. While I was there I ran into about 10 people, 2 of which I knew. It's a small world! It started sprinkling rain and I headed home for lunch.
After lunch I went to the movies and saw World War Z. I thought it an appropriate movie this week to watch on account of all the zombie fighting. A lot of my friends had watched it and the reactions were mixed between good and bad. I thought it was decent as long as you don't think to much about it. I had heard they had five script writers and re-filmed a third of the movie, it showed! It was really fast passed, but didn't really flow, just felt rushed. It had a lot of 90 degree turns in it, which may have been an attempt to avoid predictability. Or maybe you could describe it as chapters in a book where each chapter is in a completely different location with a different situation. You could have focused on one chapter and drawn it out into it's own movie, but instead you feel like you just watched a movie in 15 minutes and you want to know more. Over all it was decent, had the potential to be a lot better!
After the movie I came home and had homemade ice cream, watched some tv. New episode of Falling Skies and I can't remember what else I watched.
I guess that is about it, I'm going to go to Bennett Springs here in a few minutes and take some pictures there. Photos from Ha Ha Tonka are uploaded to Flickr if you want to check those out.
