What Really Grinds My Gears
I'm getting ready to go to bed early tonight, I'm exhausted! I worked an evening shift last night and a morning shift today, so between shifts I got a little less than four hours sleep.
I think smoking on public lands should be banned! This has been on my mind since I went hiking at Ha Ha Tonka and some morons were fishing on the shore puffing away. You are out there enjoying nature, enjoying the fresh air and then you get a big face full of some idiots second hand smoke. And of course the cigarette butt is going to end up on the ground I see them all over the place. So not only is it litter, it's also a fire risk.
My next point, litter bugs. I can understand litter along the roadways, but why is in state parks? If you that type of person why would you go to a state park? You would think they would have the slightest appreciation for nature and beauty. I was at a park and somebody just left a dirty diaper right out there on a rock beside the parking lot. I'd like to take that dirty diaper and shove it right in their face!
I really want to go see The Lone Ranger. I know its getting horrible reviews, but my parents saw it last week and they loved it. I don't think the reviews are accurate. I think it's just getting bad reviews because no one is going to see it. I think a lot of it is the fact it's a western and the genre is dying. I think our culture is losing it's romantic connection to history and it is no longer fascinating. Not just westerns, but medieval times and other things. Kids no longer dream of being knights or the legend of King Author, because now you've got Iron Man and his suit of armor is way cooler! With westerns we are becoming a much more urban society. What used to be farms are now subdivisions and parking lots, horses are being replaced by ATVs and it's all about technology. As the generation gets older who can remember when their parents or grandparents lived it, it fades away more and more. Look at 40-60 years ago, there were so many westerns out it seems like half the movies were westerns.
