St. Louis Road Trip

I've been really glued to Flickr lately and it is paying off. Yesterday I had over 7,000 views. I can't remember what my record is for most views in one day, 7,000 is pretty close though! I've been there several times before, usually it is when one photo gets picked up by a major site and the big chunk of the views are concentrated one that photo. This is a first I've gotten that many views and no one particular photo was involved, it was very spread out over multiple pictures.
I would be surprised if the daily views stay as high though, I've been spending a lot of time working on my Flickr page lately. As I spend less time on it I think those views will go down some, it would be really nice if I was wrong though.
The biggest thing to have gone on in my life since my last blog is I took a road trip to St. Louis with my best friend Jonathan. We went to the Chain of Rocks Bridge on old Route 66. The bridge crosses the Mississippi just North of St. Louis. It is no longer open to cars, just pedestrians and bicycles. By vehicle you have to cross over into Illinois as the parking lot on the St. Louis side has been closed for a very long time.
We also attempted to get to the Missouri Conservation area where the Mississippi and Missouri rivers meet, but the area is currently inaccessible. We were told the flooding earlier this year had destroyed the roads leading to it.
Also we attempted to go to the St. Louis Zoo, but we could not find anywhere to park. We instead went to the St. Louis Arch and walked around the area and went to the City Garden and Old Courthouse. We had lunch at Jack In The Box. Drove around in Illinois some and stopped at a few places along Route 66 on the way back. By the end of the day we were both pretty sunburned!
Photographers are always taking pictures of other photographers, it's kind of a way of saying hello. Like when two motorcyclist pass each other they hold out their arm to the side to wave. I've decided I'm going to make a thing of it and dedicate a set to it on Flickr. Every time I see somebody with a camera taking a picture I'm going to try and take a picture of them for the set.
Sunday I went to Golden Corral to eat with the family in Springfield for the breakfast buffet. It was really good! Their was an older couple at the table beside me, probably in their 50s or 60s. The woman didn't have her shirt buttoned up but about half way. It had come open and there was boob! haha Not sure if it was accidental or intentional.
After Golden Corral we went to Sam's Club and Academy Sports. Academy had their gun racks filled back up and they full shelves of ammo. I was told the ammo had just arrived that morning though and it was going fast! When we first walked in their were at least 40 people in line for ammo, one of the workers said when he showed up for work 30 minutes before the store opened 7 men were camped out waiting for the ammo. Even though money is pretty tight right now I couldn't pass up .22 long rifle and bought 1000 rounds. Considering this was only the second time I've seen bulk boxes since December I couldn't pass it up. I've only seen the little 50 round boxes about three times since then. It was the Federal round lead nose, not as god as the Federal hollow points. I get more misfires with this stuff, but at least maybe I will get to go shooting again sometime soon.
Did notice prices have really jumped! Guns are higher, ammo is higher, everything is more expensive. The 30 round AK mags I was buying for $9.99 are back on the shelves, but are now $14.99. They had a lot of 30 round magazines in for the ARs too.
It was nice seeing full shelves again though! Maybe this drought is coming to an end and after it is good and over for a while hopefully prices will drop back down. I miss going out to the range!
It's getting late and my laptop battery is almost drained. Time to call it a night!
