Black Sails
I've been spending the day relaxing in front of the tv, catching up on the DVR. I've watched Survivorman, Globe Trekker, the show where they build tree houses and House Hunters International.
I can't remember which country they were in on House Hunters International but they were buying these beautiful homes right on the beach for the prices an average run of the mill house would cost here. I really wish I could afford something like that. I think I may end up retiring overseas. With the exchange rate you can have a lot higher quality of life for the same amount of money.
I think Australia would be nice. Europe is really tempting! They have a great train system and there are so many places and so much history densely packed in it. I would love to explore the castles, the old battlefields, the historic buildings, the ruins of ancient civilizations and all the different cultures.
Tonight I watched Black Sails and it was really good! It reminds me a lot of the Spartacus series, but with pirates. The level of violence and sex are about the same at least, gotta get those ratings you know! The series looks to be the same quality you would typically find in a movie and the acting is good. Especially surprising for the pilot episode, the cast of shows a few episodes before they click. I like how they make it feel like history and I love the ships!
I haven't been to the ocean since I was little, but I think I would love to have a sailboat. I fell in love with sailing in 2001 when I watched Geraldo Rivera's special Sail To The Century. I know Geraldo has had a pretty controversial career on television, but this was different than his regular stuff. He loves to sail and has a beautiful sailboat called Voyager. He documented sailing around the world on Voyager in 2000 (hence the title Sail To The Century).
I would sail around the world, picking up items on my adventures in the markets around the world. My house would look like a museum! Or the one Brendon Fraser's character lived in the movie The Mummy.
