Logan's Roadhouse
I stayed up late playing World of Tanks on Xbox and then this morning went to Springfield this morning with the family. My mom wanted to get some doughnuts so we swung by a shop. While we are browsing the selection the lady behind the counter just kind of ignores us and is having a conversation with a girl in the back. My mom asked a question and the lady just kind of ignored it and kept on with her conversation and I thought she wasn't going to answer but finally did. We get our doughnuts and are checking out and I notice a big puddle of water on the floor coming from one of the refrigerators. Being the nice guy I am, I inform the girl behind the counter. She jokingly tells me there is a mop behind me and then seriously asks if I can take one of the wet floor signs behind me and put over it. I do and it wouldn't have been a big deal, except the wet floor sign was rather disgusting! Caked on black grime and I'm sure it had never been cleaned, YUK! I so did not want to have to touch that! Thankfully I had no plans to eat my doughnuts right away as my hand had now become a petri dish.
We had lunch at Logan's Roadhouse and it was pretty good! I had chicken tenders with sides of french fries and homemade potato chips. For an appetizer we had deep fried mushrooms. I wasn't impressed by their french fries, everything else was really good though. The mushrooms were a little different than you get most places, they reminded me of the mushrooms at Quincy Magoo's when it was open in Springfield. The service wasn't that great, my judgement on the guy who waited on us was he was probably a young college kid who had been up all night studying and was having a really ruff day. If I was going to go out and eat at a steakhouse I would rather go to Colton's. The only thing I think they had Colton's beat on was Logan's had better homemade chips.
It was extremely windy all day, straight line winds of around 65 mph. A cold front moved in and the temperature dropped about 30 degrees in an hour or two. I saw so many houses with roof damage where the wind had blown up and off shingles. Got home and we even had shingles from our neighbors roof in our front yard.
We drove to Lake Springfield while we were there, but didn't stay long because of the wind. Saw lots of ducks and geese. The water was really choppy because of the wind and the ducks were bobbing all over the place.
On the way home we spotted the bald eagle again! It was flying over the interstate at the Sampson/Sparkle Brooke Road exit. This makes about the 3rd or 4th time we've seen one in that area on our way to or from Springfield in the last month.
